This week our learning included the thinking routine Zoom In. I displayed a photo on the Promethean board and slowly revealed it as the children brainstormed what the picture could be. We are creating deep thinkers in the Lion Room! We also explored various ways to sort. Can you tell how the children sorted in the photos? We also created festive art (Frankenbuddies), published our writing for the first time, and created jack-o-lanterns in cooperative groups. It's a great week to be in kindergarten!

The children had so many great ideas with regards to what to do with their pumpkins... Why not do them all? Some chose to paint, some to cut and scoop, some to just squish the pulp around! We roasted the seeds and sampled a pumpkin pie. Fall is in the air! We read a great book called Pumpkin Jack and put our pumpkins outside to rot and return to the earth.... Hopefully new pumpkins will grow!
This week we learned a new math game. We enjoyed workshop stations and using the Promethean board for 5 senses sorting. Our beloved hamster, Skittles, returned to the classroom! We made beautiful art and used highlighters to "butter" our popcorn words. It feels good to be a lion!
Our learning week included a nature walk to look for signs of changing leaves. We also created beautiful fall art and worked on patterning!
From sharing our writing to movement to goal setting to painting with apples to making applesauce... We were busy! What a amazing week! Be sure to ask your child about these photos to hear our stories!
